My research is mainly focused on conflict and political violence in Colombia. As part of this research, I have spent five months as a participant observer with the National Liberation Army of Colombia (ELN), and regularly conduct fieldwork relating to the armed conflict across rural Colombia more generally. I employ a Critical Political Economy (CPE) approach to understand Colombia’s state-formation and institutional development, as well as the country’s’ interaction with other nation-states and social forces organised at world order levels. I am currently an ESRC-funded 1+3 candidate at the University of Nottingham working on Colombia’s insurgency and 2016 peace agreement.
